Nearly 400 years ago the largest forced migration in history occurred. Millions of Africans were enslaved and sent abroad to live in what was then called the New World (North, America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean). Enslaved Africans were forced to abandon their languages, customs and spirituality in favor of those of their captors. Hundreds of years later some of their descendants in America have returned to their ancestral and spiritual heritage.
